Troup FFA showed out last Friday at the Cherokee County Metal Fabrication Contest, hosted by Rusk FFA. Schools from all of Cherokee County came to compete. The kids had to run a 1G groove weld with a stick welder, a 3F vertical up stick weld, a 1 flat MIG weld, a pipe to plate MIG weld, and layout & cut a square flange for a piece of 2” pipe. They were also broken into divisions; Female, first-year male, and multi-year male. The results are as follows:
Maddie Howell, Soph; 3rd place groove weld, 2nd cut, 1st in pipe to plate, and overall Female Division Winner

Katelyn Carter, Jr; 2nd groove, 2nd pipe to plate, 1st MIG flat, and overall winner for MIG welds in Female division.
Logan Lockey, Fr; 3rd place cut and 1st place groove weld in the first year division.
Zack Seley, Jr; 1st place pipe to plate weld in Multi-Year division.
Jake Bender, Sr; 2nd place groove weld in Multi-Year division.
Tucker Bozard, Jr; 3rd vertical up, 3rd pipe to plate, 3rd cut, 1st overall stick weld, 1st place overall in the Multi-Year Division, and Grand Overall across all divisions.
