THS Freshman Payton Wells placed 1st at the Texas High School Womens' Powerlifting Association state championship on Thursday last week in Corpus Christi.
Wells lifted a total of 630 pounds (240 on squat, 115 on bench press, 275 on deadlift) to win the gold medal in the 97-pound weight class in the Small Class 3A segment.
Jaycee Eastman came in fourth place in the 114-pound division, with lifts totaling 630-pounds (250-120-260).
Tara Wells came in sixth in the 148-pound weight class, with lifts totaling 845-pounds (340-170-325).
