Dear Troup ISD Community,

I hope this update finds you and your family healthy during this challenging time.  As you are aware, we are closely monitoring the COVID-19 public health situation. District leaders are working diligently to make sure our students, staff and community remain our top priority as we work to determine when our students will be able to return to school in Troup.

Our teachers are working to prepare learning opportunities for all students with online learning or learning packets in case of additional days out of school.   Please continue to check the TISD website for updated information.

We recognize there are questions at this time.  Hopefully, the information below will help clarify things:

  1.  Will we have to makup days?

As of now, no.  The days we missed this week were built into our current school calendar.

  1.  When will a decision be made for extending a school closure?

The decision will be made by Thursday afternoon at 5:00.

  1.  What will happen to extra-curricular activities?

UIL has cancelled all activities at this time.  We will provide updates when they become available.  The UIL Website is https://www.uil.texas.org.  Troup ISD will not hold practices, and all facilities remain closed at this time.

  1. Will there be school meals?

Yes.  Troup ISD is offering meals from 11:00am-12:30pm at Troup Elementary School and 4 different locations in the community. Lunches are available for pick up at Troup Town Homes on Magnolia and PonsardShort Street Park, Alton Ashby City Park, and at the corner of Beulah and Paschal Street.

  1. How can parents communicate with teacher or the school?

Please continue to call the Troup Administration Building.  The phones will be answered from 9:00am-12:00pm.  Administrators and teachers will be checking their email or using communication apps.  We are doing callouts when necessary, please make sure the number we have on file for your student is correct.

  1. Do students have to take a STAAR/EOC?

No.  The state mandated testing has been suspended for this year.

  1. Has graduation been cancelled?

No. We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation and will wait until much closer to the graduation date.
